One of the oldest customs and one of the focal points for a wedding is the exchanging of rings. This exchange marks the start of a remarkable journey for the new couple.
"...I give you this ring as a sign of our marriage..."
The ring exchange during a wedding ceremony involves either the best man, ring bearer, or the bridesmaid depending on the tradition.
THE BEST MAN
Traditionally, the best man carries the rings to the ceremony. His duty is to ensure that the rings are safe and available for the actual ceremony.
THE RING BEARER
In some traditions, a ring bearer or pageboy carries the rings on top of the wedding ring pillow during the ceremony. The ring bearer is chosen from either the bride or groom's side.
THE BRIDESMAID
Couples may also choose a ring cushion and ask a bridesmaid to carry it during the bridal procession.
