WEDDING FAVORS

Traditionally, the bride and groom, give wedding favors, bonbonierre (French), bomboniere (Italian) during the reception as a way of saying thanks to their guests.

Historically, the tradition of giving wedding favors dates back to Europe when the aristocrats gave gifts to their guests who attended the wedding celebration.  The traditional bonbonierre, five sugar coated almonds in a mesh bag, symbolises the bittersweet union of the newly wed couple.

The five sugar almonds symbolises : Happiness,Health,Wealth,Longevity and Fertility

In a Greek wedding the Best Man usually provides the bomboniere while in an Italian wedding it is customary for the bride, groom or parents to choose the bomboniere. The purchasing of the wedding favor is one of the most important event in the wedding preparation as this is the chance for the bride and groom to show their gratitude towards the guests who have attended their special day.
